On 8 August 2026, changemakers, fellows, civic actors and city leaders came together in Lower Parel to celebrate the people and places shaping a WISE Mumbai. This page is the recap.
Summit report →The Summit brought three moments together: the unveiling of How WISE is Mumbai?, the graduation of Community Connect Fellowship Batch 16, and the WISE Awards, celebrating leaders and localities that already embody the spirit of WISE.
We asked Mumbai how it feels to live here. 3,600+ citizens answered, across all 24 wards and the wider region, the largest citizen-led exercise of its kind in the city. Mumbai’s first WISE Quotient stands at 2.47 out of 4.
People genuinely love this city: 78% feel they belong here. But heat, waste and climate readiness are where Mumbai struggles, and wards like M/East live a different story from the rest. The full report, with a report card for every ward, is now public.
59 fellows of Community Connect Fellowship Cohort 16, the people who walked their localities and listened to 3,600+ fellow citizens, graduated at the Summit. Their conversations are the reason the WISE Quotient exists.
The WISE Awards recognise leaders, emerging leaders and localities that embody the spirit of a Well-Being oriented, Inclusive, Sustainable and Entrepreneurial Mumbai.
From 76+ nominations across the city, reviewed by a six-member jury, the 2026 awardees are:
In the press: mid-day’s Mumbai Diary covered the evening. “We’re getting a good feeling about the new-age Mumbaikar... Now that’s the spirit.” Read it →
Cities are not transformed only by large policies or big institutions. They are also shaped by individuals, communities, local spaces, collectives and entrepreneurs who quietly make life more dignified, joyful, sustainable, inclusive and participatory. Many of these efforts remain invisible. The WISE Awards are BRM’s way of making them visible.
For individuals who have demonstrated meaningful ecosystem leadership in making Mumbai more WISE. Social entrepreneurs, community organisers, educators, civic activists, artists, public servants, people with decades of quiet commitment.
For spaces, neighbourhoods, institutions or collectives that embody the WISE spirit. More than an award, it is an invitation into a deeper partnership through the WISE Initiative, including the possibility of building experience centres and co-creating local solutions to civic issues.
For young leaders at the beginning of their journey who have already shown initiative, courage and care for Mumbai. This category encourages the next generation of city-builders whose intent and promise reflect the future of a WISE Mumbai.
